The Ewings - Rock & Rule (2002)

The Ewings (with two members of 50 Foot Combo) are from Ghent (Belgium), and you can describe their sound as garagepunk(speed)rock'n'roll, or think Peter Pan Speedrock. 'Rock & Rule' was their first and only album, released on Tear It Up Records (Eindhoven).

Matadors - Flame The Whisper (2007)

Another re-upper, my apologies for that. This is the second (and last ?) album from the Matadors. The best description of their sound is : tangoboogiestonerrock'n'roll. Two members have a new project now, namely We:Duo. They've recorded their first (mini)album, 'Simian Songs', and it sounds like an acoustic version of the Matadors. Has someone the 'Simian Songs' album ? Please let me know, I would appreciate that.

Matadors - The Muse Of Senor Ray (2005)/ Re-Up

From the ashes of Ridge, Matadors has become one of my favourit stoner bands. They play twisted groovy rock with some flamingo influences, or, think Fu Manchu who plays the tango. 'The Muse of Senor Ray' is their first album.

I Love UFO - Wish (2006)

This French trio brings us a mix between punk, kraut and new wave. You can hear echoes of ‘70s psychedelia and had rock also. If you want some references, here they are: Pink Floyd, Sonic Youth, Joy Division, PIL, or recently Fugazi, Mclusky and Audionom, to name a few.

The Pyramids - The Pyramids (2007) / Re-Up

The Pyramids, with 2 members of Archie Bronson Outfit, have recorded and written this album in just one week. The sound is darker, heavier, nastier, rougher. They're currently working on a new album. For fans of Archie Bronson Outfit.

RC5 - American Rock 'n' Roll (2002)

If you're into Zeke, Peter Pan Speedrock e.a., then this band needs your attention. These four Seattlites plays a dirty punk-influenced rock & roll . "American Rock 'n' Roll" is their first release, produced by Jack Endino and released on Twenty Stone Blatt Records. They've recorded a second album in 2004, "Gotta Get Away". Has someone this album? Please let me know!

Mon-O-Phone - Mon-O-Phone (2008)

You can't wait for the new Kills album? Well, here's a fantastic alternative. Mon-O-Phone is a duo from Hasselt (Belgium) and in their sound you'll hear echo's of The Kills and PJ Harvey.

Speedball JR - Whiplash (2003) / Re-Up

This band plays high injected speed surf like a hurricane, no garage or sixties influences on this release, no, just pure high quality instrumental surf . This makes the band unique and highly enjoyable for the public. They supported bands as the Apemen; Jon & the Nightriders, Slacktone, Fifty Foot Combo… This album rocks from the very first song till the last. You'll find eight self penned tracks & 2 covers.

Mogul - Build Me A Hunchback (2008)

Is there a Californian desert in Flanders? No, of course not, mostly there's solid clay. For the guys of Mogul that doesn't matter, they've made with 'Build Me A Hunchback' a good stoner album. So what else is there to say, well there's plenty guitar fuzz on it, the vocals are great, the drums are what they should be and the bass player knows his stuff and adds some nice extra tones to the album. The album starts off rocking with 'Sick&Tired' and then slides into the easy 'Return The Blues'. The latter of the two is a relaxed song that just has this great bluesy-stoner feel to it. The album keeps on rocking with as a highlight the song 'Side Kick', but maybe my personal favourite is the last song on the album, but that doesn't matter, it's just a very solid stonerrock album!

They've recorded 'Tumuli Shroomaroom' in 1997 (a real stoner masterpiece) and a few EP's, before they, in 2001, decided to split up.

Golden Animals - Free Your Mind And Win A Pony (2008)

The Golden Animals are a far-out blues/rock & roll duo from the US. You want a hint, well think The White Stripes with the voice of Jim Morrison.

Audionom - Retrospektiv (2002)

One of my favourite kraut/new wave rock bands around. Let's say you are a big fan of krautrock, punk, garage and new wave, and you'll hear all of that on one record, then this album is for you. A collection of this Swedish supergroup/collective's best tracks over the years, Retrospektiv brings Audionom's unique style of hypnotic and driving riffs and keyboards. Originally released in 2002, rereleased on Kemado records in 2007.
You can listen to a few tracks (see my playlist).
