Queenadreena - Djin (2008)

Formed by vocalist KatieJane Garside and guitarist Crispin Gray in 1999, after disbanding Daisy Chainsaw. Djin is the fourth full length album from London based noisters, Queenadreena; a band previously known for its gutsy riffs, strangely upsetting but unmissable stage antics and feisty, somewhat damaged lead singer Katie Jane Garside (check their DVD). Although so far this has only been released in Japan, a European release is planned at some point in the future - so it’s worth giving it a plug now. Djin is full of the balls-out, sleazy, filth ridden tracks you’d expect from the band. File this under heavy, sleazy, sex rock.

Deltahead - Deltahead (2006)

Swedish duo formed in 2003 in Stockholm, their sound is a brutal hybrid of 70's punk and delta blues. You'll hear brutal blues riffs, swinging washboard, screaming slide guitar and rockabilly upright bass. This is a good listen for garage blues and punk-blues fans.

La Muerte - Kustom Kar Kompetition (1991)

Belgian cult band, formed in the early eighties. They brought me into the 'alternative' music genre, somewhere in the mid eighties. They split up in '94. The music of La Muerte can be discribed as a brutal mix between blues and (industrial) metal. They have just released a DVD '450 Big Block', which I bought today.

Dead Combo - Dead Combo (2004)

What do you get when you mix two weird Finnish dudes (now living in N.Y.), a Moog synth, two guitars and a drum machine? Answer: Dead Combo! If you could imagine Ron Asheton hanging out with Suicide, you'd be getting close. There are 2 cover versions on this album, an excellent rendition of 'Lets Dance' by David Bowie and a modified version of the theme from 2001 Space odyssey called '2002'.
Check them on their Myspace.
Not to confuse with a Portuguese duo.

Howling Diablos - Carwash (2005)

If you're looking for some good, funky blues to listen, then is Car Wash a good offer. The Howling Diablos (from Detroit) play the blues with sweat and feeling. Similar artists are the Black Keys and R.L. Burnside.

The May Queens - The May Queens (2000)

Robin Proper Sheppard (from God Machine and Sophia) took in 2000 a break from Sophia and recorded this little gem of rock songs. He offers you a 'MC5' carnage, surf instrumentals and angular guitar riffage a la 'Sonic Youth'. Monster!!
I'd noticed the link was dead, so I decided to reupload this beauty.

Are you ready for a 53-minute musical journey along psychedelic, stoner, 60's guitar rock, blues, and experimental? Well, here's Intodown, Michael Clark's brainchild, assisted with several musicians.
'If you're looking for epic music where the psychedelic past of the 60's meets up with a dark futuristic industrial sound, that is dripping with great guitar work, then you need to get intodown's Brave New World. Brave New World isn't an easy listen but if you're willing to spend the time and take this musical thrill ride you will be justly rewarded' (from their website)

Darker My Love - 2 (2008)

Probably one of the best new psychedelic and shoegaze bands of this moment. This L.A. quartet made with '2' an astonishing record. Stand out songs are 'talking words', 'two ways out' and 'waves'. Currently on tour in Europe (with A Place To Bury Strangers). Forget the last B.R.M.C. album, they deserve much more attention. Visit their Myspace.
